[5 documents - developed photographs]

Millicent Rogers is a woman of the world, heiress and jewelry designer. Her father was considered the richest man in the world in 1910. She posed regularly for magazines such as Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. In the late 1940s, Rogers began making jewelry, which she wears in this series of photographs. She was also very close to the Anglo-American couturier Charles James, whose creation she also wears in these photos. This dress, dated 1946, is in the Brooklyn Museum (see photograph in catalog). The designer and her client were so close that in 1947 she organized an exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum entitled "A Decade of Design for Mrs Millicent H. Rogers by Charles James".

One of the photographs features a "mise en carreau", a technique frequently used by the artist in the making of his paintings.
