PAUL WIEGANT (1915–1991) The Rediscovered Jewelry Designer In his earlier career, Paul Wiegant was a talented jewelry designer before entering the world of cycling under the pseudonym Mickey Wiegant, where he served as a sports director from the 1950s to the 1980s. He worked as a jewelry designer until 1939, and we are now able to rediscover his work thanks to the dispersal of his studio collection, where his wife, Pierrette Teissedre, collaborated as a designer. He worked for the greatest fashion houses of the era, particularly SCHIAPARELLI, but also CHANEL , WORTH, MARCEL ROCHAS, and others, as evidenced by his sketchbooks, creating poetic jewelry and accessories whose quality stems from his use of pure gold to adorn his pieces.
